Angels
Being some of the angels (at least currently) who have crossed the paths of
the players.
An Elohite of Lightning and expert medic, Aesclepius was the first to examine
Boriel's whitefire-inflicted wounds. Hot
plasma of some sort, apparently. He was also useful in being able to bluff a
way into the Hammersmith General Hospital Burns Unit for the Malakite to
closely resonate on Justin Wells.
Ahazariel is a Cherub of Dreams, one of those assigned to guard the entrance
to Blandine's Tower. In celestial form she appears as a griffin, a fact that
does not endear her to some of the more traditional Servitors of The Sword,
for example.
A Mercurian of Trade, Alanuel was one of the many angels called in to try and
secure the services of Hezekiah at his redemption.
That Hezekiah ended up in Trade is only in part due to Alanuel; Eli was
actually the one who suggested it most strongly. Of course, it was
Hezekiah's decision, Alanuel was just there to help him.
Yet another Malakite of the Sword, this time drafted in to help apprehend the
demon posing as Inspector Jones. Sadly he
fell foul of a Habbalite projecting fear into him.
An Elohite of the Sword, part of the group originally assigned to retrieve
the Dagger of Bithynia at Heathrow airport. Most noted for his ability to
trigger traps in Langridge House the hard way.
A Seraph of the Sword, part of the group originally assigned to retrieve the
Dagger of Bithynia at Heathrow airport.
A Kyriotate of the Sword who assisted in the apprehension of
Inspector Jones and his
assistant. She currently has a pigeon
keeping watch over the unconscious PC
Wells.
A stuffy Elohite of Lightning in charge of a safe house in central London.
Played host on the occasion that Hezekiah was
redeemed, and spent most of that time attempting to reduce the amount of
Disturbance being caused.
The Seneschal of one of Michael's more awkward Tethers, Haramine looks after
the Cenotaph as well as one can look after an exposed public monument. He
inhabits the closest offices, where "Mr Harriman" runs a small
government department as cover while keeping watch over his attuned. This
leaves him little spare time or attention to devote to the wider efforts of
War, so his local angels get relatively little in the way of orders from him.
Fortunately it's a few decades since London was in the thick of a real war.
Haramine always has to call in consultants for those occasions; he's too busy
protecting his wayward Tether locus to be able to coordinate much.
A Mercurian of War normally operating in France. Heloise was drafted in to
assist with the recruitment of the CI5 agents
Sam Curtis and
Chris Keel on short notice, since the
party's original plans fell through due to multiple overcommitments.
A former Balseraph of Lust now redeemed to the service of Trade. Alex was
loosely associated with the Lust nest set up around the nightclub
"Giuseppe's" but spent most of his time working out in the field,
as it were. His job was to funnel people from the places where he worked
into the club, where the staff would quietly encourage them upstairs where
they could be corrupted. He had some success at this, but his attention
wasn't fully on it. In his own mind he had two rather more important things
to be doing.
First, he was a sports nut. Rationalising it as "doing what comes
naturally in the presence of sweaty male bodies," Alex joined his local
Sunday League rugby team. He made them into a real team too, since he was
the nearest thing they had to a real leader with a genuine understanding of
the game. Quite what the Ravenscourt Rangers are going to do now that Alex
has had to move away suddenly… it's probably a good thing that their
newest member is an angel.
Second, he was in lurve with Amanda Wood, a
woman he'd met while she was out trying to make ends meet and he was trying
to burn off some dissonance. It didn't work out quite the way that either of
them intended. Now, being in love is a serious no-no for a servitor of Lust,
so Alex kept the extent of his relationship extremely secret from his Lustie
brethren, and was erratic enough in his behaviour to earn the disapproval of
Amanda's son, David. Never mind, he
figured, he could drop her any time. He just didn't want to. Not now,
anyway.
Boy, does he wince when he remembers that time.
Ofanite secretary to Haramine, the Seneschal of the
Cenotaph. Lively, irreverent and talks nineteen to the dozen, just like
you'd expect from an Ofanite. Also very efficient, which you might not
expect from someone who spends all their time acting like an airhead.
A Seraph of Judgement who gave Helophel a
hard time about the use of supernatural powers in a public place. Part of
the Triad that looks after the area in which our heroes operate.
A Mercurian with a penchant for film noir and police shows on TV, Kadris is
in many ways not an ideal Servitor of Revelation. He loves investigating
things, especially crimes, that bit's fine. It's just that he can't resist
teasing, and can be playfully dodgy to the point of Dissonance. He's seen
too much Columbo, that's his main problem.
[ Kadris comes from the Feast of Blades scenario pack ]
A Malakite of Judgement serving in Jordan's Triad. Not
a sympathetic character, but then what Judgementer is?
A Malakite of Destiny with the Divine Destiny attunement who was brought in
to help with the recruitment of Curtis and
Keel. Oloriel, who normally works in
another part of London entirely, proved to be almost entirely unhelpful; he
strongly recommended recruitment, but refused to say why. He also
demonstrated considerable skill in spraying beer across a crowded bar.
A Malakite of the Sword, part of the group originally assigned to retrieve
the Dagger of Bithynia at Heathrow airport.
A Malakite of Dreams who assisted Magariel
and Atoziel in finding where in the Far
Marches David Wood had been one night.
Seneschal of the Tether to the Sword at the Tower of London, Philomon is
Blakely's immediate superior in the
Laurencian hierarchy. Given the cooperative deep-cover nature of Blakely's
assignment, Philomon is forced to take a rather distant role, rarely
supplying the Mercurian with direct orders unless exceptional circumstances
apply.
An Ofanite of Destiny, Randolph is one of Yves more active Word-bound angels.
He happened to be in London when Hezekiah was to be
redeemed, so was called in as a consultant by his choir-mate
Atoziel. Randolph is a lively chap, talks
a mile and minute and quite enjoys winding up Servitors of War by never
actually saying anything terribly important.
OK, I admit it, Randolph is entirely ripped off from Steve Jackson Games.
He was just the right being at the right time, OK?
This high-ranking Servitor of Destiny is an expert on Disturbances, having
been fascinated for centuries by the sounds of the Symphony. After spending
a while in service to Lightning in exchange for the recording devices he uses
to catalogue Disturbances, he returned to the Library where he is
unofficially known as "The Recording Angel." But only when there
aren't any Servitors of Judgement around.
Riel has most recently been contacted by his fellow Servitor of Destiny
Atoziel, who was trying to pin down the
nature of some peculiar Ethereal-based Disturbances which seem to be
connected to the white fire phenomenon. Riel was unable to clarify matters,
but he was most curious. Most curious indeed.
A Malakite of the Sword assigned to the strike on the Tether of Secrets at
Langridge House.
Romiel was played by John Dallman as something to do in the big fight
scene at the end of episode 2.
An Elohite of Judgement, working in the same Triad as
Jordan.
Tiriel is an angel of Destiny (choir not actually determined) who specialises
in exotic healing techniques, particularly Eastern-style spiritual and
mystical approaches. He was called in in an attempt to cure or stabilise the
sorceror Roberto Raposo. Alas, the
terminal disintigration of Raposo's forces brought on by prolonged exposure
to the Dagger of Bithynia was beyond even Tiriel's experience and abilities.
An Ofanite of the Sword assigned to the strike on the Tether of Secrets at
Langridge House.
Xenophon is a Cherub of Dreams, one of those assigned to guard the entrance
to Blandine's Tower. In celestial form he appears as a winged horse (not a
pegasus, please, not in front of the Laurencians).
A Malakite of the Sword, leader of the group assigned to retrieve the Dagger
of Bithynia. Serious and singleminded, a typical Laurencian.
