I Am A Fan

Words: Rhodri James
Tune: "I Am A Rock"
after Valerie Housden's "I Am A Stone"

        I am a fan,
        This is my first convention.
        I've found this filking room
        Where crammed in every corner, fans both old and young
        Have brought these things called filk songs to be sung.
        	I am a fan,
        	I want to weeble!

        This is terrible.
        They've no idea of scansion.
        The rhyming's really forced.
        Still, they seem to think it's fun, and there goes another one --
        Oh my God here comes another dreadful pun!
        	I am a fan,
        	I want to weeble!

        There's no telling them
        Their poetry is grotty.
        They simply carry on
        And sing their wretched ose songs with twisted words and tunes;
        I think they look and sound a bunch of loons.
        	I am a fan,
        	I want to weeble!

        I've just realised
        Quite what this is I'm doing;
        I'm writing a filk myself!
        If I give up all pretensions to get the scansion right,
        I'll stop myself before I sing all night.
        	I am a fan,
        	I want to weeble!
