I'd recommend doing this one with the capo on the third fret at least.
G C G Em
I once heard a song that cried out to be filked,
Am D G
The words were so awfully bad.
G C G Em
A new set occured to me nearly at once,
Am D G
But no paper or pen could be had.
G C G
I've gone and forgotten that filk.
G Em A D
It was ever so funny, like most of that ilk,
C D G C
But when I got time to write it down
G D G
I found I'd forgotten my filk!
I was lying awake in my bed late that night
Remembering the words I had seen;
A different filk suddenly popped into view --
Oh God, it could make me scream!
I've gone and forgotten that filk.
It was ever so funny, like most of that ilk,
But when I got time to write it down
I found I'd forgotten my filk!
I swore that the next time I thought of a filk
I'd have pen and paper about
Sure enough, the next time inspiration came by
I found the damn pen had run out.
I've gone and forgotten that filk.
It was ever so funny, like most of that ilk,
But when I got time to write it down
I found I'd forgotten my filk!
It's simply not fair, all these brilliant fans
Who reel off new filksongs with ease.
It's not that I'm getting a Writer's Block,
I'm getting Pre-Frank Hayes Disease.
I've gone and forgotten that filk.
It was ever so funny, like most of that ilk,
But when I got time to write it down
I found I'd forgotten my filk!
