Some useful links
I use the bookmarks that are set up in my web browser rather than what's on
this page, so no guarantees are made that these links work!
Since I'm not that interested in super-whizzy graphics, these are all links
to sites that deal with text-based Adventure Games, or Interactive Fiction as
they are referred to these days.
Lots of links here, since I just raided Mike Richard's site for links!
- UK filkers
- UK filk groups
- Overseas filkers
- Overseas filk groups
- Some useful filk-related links
- Didgeridouze,
the twelvth British filk convention. Look, I'm sorry about the name. I
just pointed out that the puns didn't have to be in English, I never thought
that they'd use the damn thing!
- The Dandelion Conspiracy,
Kathy's call to arms for filkers who get a raw deal at conventions.
- FilKONtario,
the Canadian filk convention, including the Filk Hall of Fame
- Interfilk,
the fan fund for sending filk guests to conventions away from their
normal areas.
I don't actually have a vast collection of links for fandom in general, for
some reason. Fans seem to prefer to witter to one another directly, or
indirectly via email, rather than setting up grand and generally ignored web
pages. At least, that's my excuse.
- Convention listings
as maintained by The Magician.
- Ansible,
archives of Dave Langford's infamous newszine.
- Paragon,
the 2001 Eastercon to be held in Blackpool.
- Wincon V,
the 1999 Unicon.
- Mike Scott's web site,
gateway to the Plokta-verse.
- PNN, the Plokta News
Network, is of particular interest, being a pack of
scurrilous lies an online news service for fandom.
If it's not reported in PNN, it probaby didn't happen. If
it is reported in PNN, it probably still didn't happen. But
enough reviewing....
- The FANAC FanHistory Archives,
Florida fandom's site for the preservation (pickling?) and
dissemination of What Fans Do (or Did, depending).
- CUSFS, the
Cambridge University Science Fiction Society, lives here. It has
apparently merged with Jomsborg the New, which shows you how in
contact I've been over the last few years.
- Logres Weyr Pernese
writing group lives over there. You have been warned.
There's no way I'm going to keep a reasonably up to date list of interesting
web sites concerning or generally speaking around Cambridge. It's far too
much like hard work. Instead, I'll just give you a few highlights and some
general pointers.
More links to come when time allows
